Brazilian Communist Party: On the 60th anniversary of the 1964 military coup — Never Again!

Statement of the National Political Commission of Brazilian Communist Party (Partido Comunista Brasileiro- PCB) on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the 1964 military coup:

The 60th anniversary of the 1964 military coup, which inaugurated a 21-year dictatorship, occurs at a complex and adverse time for the Brazilian working class. Although Bolsonaro was defeated electorally, with a candidacy that claimed the most brutal crimes of the dictatorship, the far right that supported him remained active, gaining a strong presence in the National Congress and preserving significant support in various sectors of society.

The following statement was issued by the
National Political Commission of the Brazilian Communist Party (PCB):

On the afternoon of that Sunday, January 8, supporters of Jair Bolsonaro invaded the National Congress and tried to occupy buildings of other public bodies, with the intention of promoting disturbances and giving rise to a coup d'état.

This movement has been articulated for months by sectors of the Brazilian ultra-right, which has strong financial support from businessmen and segments of the military police and the Armed Forces. Brazil: Is social democracy the solution for the people?

By Nikos Mottas.

After four years of far-right Bolsonaro government, the old known social democracy is back in Brazil. Lula da Silva's electoral victory consists the culmination of social democracy's recent resurgence in Latin America, following the rise of Lopez Obrador in Mexico, Gabriel Boric in Chile and Gustavo Petro in Colombia.

Once again, opportunist left-wing forces will celebrate the victory of Lula da Silva, presenting it as a political triumph that will allegedly bring positive developments for the Brazilian working class and the popular strata. Without doubt, Bolsonaro's defeat would be positive news, but the major question that arises is the following: Does social democracy provide a real alternative solution to the dominance of the capital in Brazil?

Bolsonaro the fascist: Brazil's new president threatens to target Cuba and Venezuela

Brazil’s fascist new president Jair Bolsonaro said on Tuesday that he would take all action “within the rule of law and democracy” to oppose the governments of Venezuela and Cuba

A fervent anticommunist, praiser of the crimes committed during the 1964-1985 dictatorial military regime in Brazil and loyal ally of U.S. imperialism, Bolsonaro unleashed threats against Cuba and Venezuela during a Facebook live video, without providing further details.

It is characteristic that the U.S. government has expressed its support towards Bolsonaro, counting on the new Brazilian administration for the implementation of the imperialist plans in Latin America.
