Thessaloniki: Meeting of Communist and Workers Parties from Balkan countries - The dangerous role of the EU and NATO in the Balkans


Being an iniatitive of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), the Meeting of Communist and Workers Parties from Balkan countries takes place today, Sunday 15 May, in Thessaloniki. The topic of the meeting is "The dangerous role of the EU and NATO in the Balkans, the monopoly antagonisms which bring the imperialist war, refugees, nationalism and the response of the people". An introductory speech was delivered by the General Secretary of KKE Dimitris Koutsoumbas while the KKE Member of the European Parliament Sotiris Zarianopoulos welcomed the foreign delegations on behalf of the Communist Party's local organisation which hosts the meeting.

Among the participants are: The Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Albania, Xhemal Shehu. The President of the Union of Communists in Bulgaria Pavel Ivanov. The member of the Political Bureau of the CP of Bulgaria Genko Gochev. The member of the Socialist Labour Party of Croatia, Vesna Konigsknecht. The General Secretary of the CP of Macedonia (FYROM) Pero Odzaklieski and Andon Andonoski, Party's officer. The vice-President of the Romanian Socialist Party Gheorghita Zbaganu. The President of the CP of Romania Liviu Lungu. Marko Sovic, member of the CC of the New Communist Party of Yugoslavia. The member of the CC of the Communists of Serbia Dejan Jovanovic and Erhan Nalcaci, member of the CC of the Communist Party (Turkey).
